An antique handgun refers to a handgun that was manufactured and designed before the beginning of the 20th century. The Boer War is taken to be a reference point. As a collector, a lot of research may be required to find the right shop from where genuine antique handguns can be obtained. Antique Colt and antique Derringer handguns are known to be two extremely popular antique handguns.
Colt
Colt Defense is a company that manufactures and develops handguns for the military, law enforcement as well as private security. The history of the company goes back to 1836, when Samuel Colt came up with the first revolver ever. Since then, there have been many designs and types of Colt handguns. Some of the more popular antique Colt handguns include the one Walker Colt used during the Mexican-American War, and Single Action Army, a name given to the Colt .45 revolvers.

For collectors who are interested in the small and rare Philadelphia Derringer pistol, which is approximately 4 and a half inches in length, they would be delighted to find this pistol available for sale at attractive prices. It has a stamp of DERINGER/PHILADELIA on it too. There are other antique Derringer handguns available online such as the .22 caliber Pocket Revolver priced from $200 to $300, .22 CAL. DERINGER CIRCA 1861 priced at $700, Spanish Derringer 41 Caliber available at $399, and several others.
Collectors can even buy antique handguns at local and specialty auctions. There are legal requirements such as licensed dealer, C&R license, payment options, and so on but they can be fulfilled easily.
